It has been over 200 years since the founding of Satoya, a confectionery located along the road that was crowded with people on their way to visit the Three Mounts of Dewa during the Edo period.

As the originator of the well-ripened plum sweets known as noshiume, which is closely related to safflower culture, the current 8th generation owner continues to make Japanese sweets that are reconstructed in each era, while firmly inheriting traditional confectionery making.

The neo-Japanese sweets, which are proposed with a modern sensibility under the motto of “Japanese sweets a little more freely”, are often talked about on SNS.

Japanese sweets born from novel ideas, such as soranomuko, which became a hot topic for being too beautiful, and tamayura, which is a collaboration of traditional noshiume and chocolate, have fans not only in the local area but also all over the country.

Sweets made at Satoya are still evolving, through collaboration with local businesses and new proposals.
