[Summary] Safflower Festival 2024! Discover Yamagata’s prefectural flower
Safflower cultivation still remains in the Mogami River basin.
Once said to be ten times more valuable than gold and a hundred times more valuable than rice, Mogami safflower is of such high quality that it has captivated many people.
The beautiful crimson is used not only as a dye but also as food.
Safflower festivals are held throughout Yamagata Prefecture every year from early July, promoting the various charms of safflower.
Why not experience the charm of safflower through experiences such as safflower dyeing and picking, and workshops?
