Historical compound in Kaminoyama City where the priest Takuan lived after his exile.
Following the Shie incident (1629), the priest Takuan left the Daitoku-ji temple of Kyoto and was welcomed by Toki Yoriyuki, lord of the Kaminoyama castle, who dedicated in his honor this compound.

Takuhan worked hard to teach the Kaminoyama domain his knowledge of lyrics writing and traditional arts.

A memorial service for Takuan Soho and a ceremony to prepare takuan-zuke (picked daikon) is held here at the end of November every year.
