Historical compound in Kaminoyama City where the priest Takuan lived after his exile. Takuhan worked hard to teach the Kaminoyama domain his knowledge of lyrics writing and traditional arts. A memorial service for Takuan Soho and a ceremony to prepare takuan-zuke (picked daikon) is held here at the end of November every year.
Following the Shie incident (1629), the priest Takuan left the Daitoku-ji temple of Kyoto and was welcomed by Toki Yoriyuki, lord of the Kaminoyama castle, who dedicated in his honor this compound.
