This year’s theme is “Heartwarming.”

This theme is embodied in our desire to deliver fireworks that will excite the hearts of people of all ages, set against the backdrop of Yamagata’s beautiful night sky.

This year, paid seating will be available at the Prefectural Citizens’ Community Square, the Event Square in front of Yamagin Kenmin Hall, the Mogami Yoshimitsu Statue Square in Kasuga Castle Park, and Yamagata City Hall .

Enjoy the vibrant nightlife of Yamagata’s castle town.

This year’s theme for the Suigo Oe Summer Festival Lantern Floating Fireworks Display is “Japanese Style.”

The event is intended to highlight the peaceful atmosphere of Oe Town, and the fact that all townspeople work together to make lanterns, as well as the townspeople’s desire to value harmony.

There will be a variety of events taking place from August 10 (Sun.) to 16 (Sat.), including the main event, the fireworks display, so please come and enjoy them.

・Oishida Festival & Mogami River Fireworks Display [Oishida Town]

Large fireworks, mainly 10-size fireworks, as well as fantastic creative fireworks that combine music and light will be launched.

The climax of the event will be the launch of Japan’s largest townspeople’s firework, “No. 20 (2 shakudama),” which embodies the hopes and wishes of the people of Oishida Town, bringing the event to a spectacular finale.

The Restoration Festival is held on the previous day, August 15 (Fri.), and dance groups from inside and outside the prefecture gather in front of JR Oishida Station, creating a lively atmosphere.

・Nishikawa Summer Festival of Gratitude [Nishikawa Town]

The summer festival, which was revived last year for the first time in 20 years, will be held again this year.

The event will culminate in a fireworks display, followed by an outdoor concert by the Yamagata Symphony Orchestra and a concert in the hall by Nishikawa City-born soprano singer Kinuyo Nishitani.

There will also be viewing seats available exclusively for Nishikawa town residents, so please come and enjoy the fireworks in your own space with your family and friends.

・37th Yuza Town Sunset Festival Yuza Town Fireworks Display [Yuza Town]

The most popular feature of the Yuza Town Fireworks Festival is the starmine fireworks that are launched simultaneously from above, below sea level, and on land.

The fireworks that go off in time with the loud music are also impressive!

Before the fireworks are launched, there will also be a Chokai Taiko performance.

This year’s Sakata fireworks program is packed with highlights, including: 1) Special fireworks to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the merger of Sakata City; 2) The simultaneous launch of three spectacular two-foot fireworks; 3) A collaborative fireworks display by famous fireworks companies from all over the country; 4) A large aerial Niagara display with a width of approximately 1.2 meters, taking advantage of the vast launch width of the Mogami River; and 5) A display of drawing fireworks designed by elementary school students in the city, organized by local high school students .

・The 39th Shonai Hirata Medamame Summer Festival [Sakata City]

Yamagata Prefecture is shaped like a human profile, with the Hirata area of Sakata City (formerly Hirata Town) located right where the eyes are.

The Shonai Hirata Eyeball Summer Festival features stage performances, Bon Odori dances, fireworks displays and more, livening up Hirata’s hot summer.

There will also be a flea market, food stalls, and food trucks.

・ The 32nd Akagawa Fireworks Memorial Festival [Tsuruoka City]

This year’s theme is “Kisho Tenketsu – Shining forever, the pride of the region.”

Taking advantage of the vastness of the Akagawa River riverbed, this spectacular fireworks display launches approximately 12,000 fireworks over an area of approximately 700m.

This is a national fireworks design competition in which selected companies participate and launch their best fireworks.

・The 65th Summer Fireworks Festival [Kanayama Town]

The Kaneyama Festival is a parade of gorgeous floats depicting famous scenes from Kabuki and historical themes through the town.

It is said that the festival originally began as a portable shrine procession held by parishioners at Hachiman Shrine on August 15th.

Additionally, on the final day, the 16 (Sat.), there will be a summer fireworks display, creating a spectacular display of fireworks in the evenings over Kaneyama.

・30th Nagai Water Festival & Mogami River Fireworks Display [Nagai City]

A water-themed summer event held in Nagai, the water town where the Mogami River originated!

At the Water Supply and Sewage Exhibition in the Water Festival, there will be activities such as underwater coin dropping and water gun shooting, as well as a product exhibition of products from Kin Town, Okinawa Prefecture, which is very popular every year, for sale of tropical specialties.

The finale will be a fireworks display that beautifully colors the surface of the Mogami River.

It is a summer tradition in Nagai, attracting many people from children to adults.
