There is a standing statue of Shaka Nyorai, a tangible cultural property of Yamagata Prefecture, at Hakuba San Horaiji Temple in Shakado.

It is said to have been made by Bishu Katsuma, a 1.4-meter tall Dabda-style (Gandhara-style) piece of fragrant sandalwood. Along with it, it is said to be one of the three Buddhas of Japan that have been handed down from the ancient Three Kingdoms.
