This shrine was affiliated to the Yakushiji Temple and built here on orders of Yamagata Castle’s Shiba Kaneyori, aka Mogami Kaneyori.

The principal image of worship is Yakushi Nyorai, who holds a medicinal pot.

There is a naked Jizo statue of a pure and innocent child, which is rare even in Japan, on the approach.
