[Feature] Summer Recommendation! Yamagata Nishi Park

img

Half a year has passed since 2019, and it’s July in no time.

Now that the rainy season is over, it is truly summer.
The hot days in Yamagata won’t last long, but there are plenty of events in the summer!

I think the number of children going out to play in the pool, sea, or water will increase.
This time, I would like to introduce Nishi Park in the west of Yamagata City where you can enjoy playing in the water!

What I felt after moving to Yamagata is that there are a lot of parks here.

It feels like there are a lot of parks, and at the same time, they are well maintained and always beautiful. The playground equipment and benches are also maintained, so I feel that not only children but also citizens are using the park comfortably ♪

When I looked it up, there were 233 parks in Yamagata city. There are so many!

I hope this will be useful for moms and dads who are looking for the perfect destination for summer. ♪

1. What kind of place is Nishi Park?

Nishi Park, which I will introduce this time, is just west of Yamagata City, as the name implies. It takes about 15 minutes by car from Yamagata Station to reach it.

The theme of Nishi Park is “a green park that contribute to the prevention of global warming.”

It is a very large park with a size of about three times the Tokyo Dome.

You will find the following inside.

1. Indoor multipurpose court (fees apply)
2. Tennis Forest (fees apply)
There is a tennis court.
3. Forest of fun
① Large wooden playground equipment
② Jabujabu pond
4. Nobinobi Garden
Footbaths and handbaths flowing directly from the source!
5. Imoni Square
6. Park center

There are sports facilities and areas where you can get in touch with nature, so you can enjoy yourself to your heart’s content.

img

Easy access!

There are three parking lots located near all the facilities. You can park up to 450 cars!

If you want to take the bus:
From the Yamagata Station West Exit bus stop
Get on the bus bound for “Kashiwagura & Oginokubo.”
Get off at the “Nishi Koen-mae” bus stop (it takes about 15 minutes).

2. Recommended here! It is easy for small children to play ☆ Jabujabu Pond

Today was the hottest day recorded this summer!

TV stations came to film children playing in the water!

img

Exciting with friends ♪ Let’s go to the jabujabu pond quickly!

img

Upon arrival, many children were already playing!

We immediately entered the water!

Make sure you have a swimsuit or clothes that can get wet, a change of clothes and towels ready ♪

img

It is about this depth when 5 year old children stand.

The jabujabu pond here is shallow, and unlike the rivers and the sea, the flow is not strong, so you can play with peace of mind.

Worrying about toys or sandals being washed away… (tears)

No such worries here!

However, please keep an eye on your children to prevent accidents at the water’s edge!

img

It’s shallow, but it feels best if you sit down or lay your whole body down like a crocodile ☆

The kids are still not coming out…

img

There are also large playground equipment, sandboxes and toilets in the immediate vicinity.

Eat rice balls and sweets, hydrate well and play again! Over and over!

The kids are having fun!

There is shade from trees everywhere, so you can spread a leisure sheet.

img

Recently, there were many families who used simple tents like those to guard against sunburns.

It can also be a blindfold when you change clothes, so it’s very convenient to bring ♪

You can play in the water on weekends and holidays from the end of April to the end of September.
(From late July to late August, it can be used every day except Monday and Tuesday).
Please refer to the Yamagata City website ♪

3. We recommend picking up acorns in the coming fall ☆

In addition to playing in the water, I recommend picking up acorns in autumn ♪

Many acorn trees are planted in the Nishi Park. This area is called the “Acorn Forest.”

img

Acorns collected in the fall of last year ↓

img

The round ones are from a Chinese cork oak? Or is it from a sawtooth oak?

Pick up colorful fallen leaves and have lots of fun!

I was absorbed in picking up acorns with my children (laughs)

4. Conclusion

In addition to the water area I introduced you can also enjoy hand baths and foot baths in Nishi Park.
There is also the Nobinobi Garden (open late April to early November from 9:00 to 17:00 daily).
There is also an imoni square where you can enjoy an imoni-kai party, a classic of Yamagata’s autumn (free to use).

I think I will come back again!

It is a park that can be used for a variety of activities as it includes a multi-purpose indoor court and a tennis court (fees will apply).

img

Please go to Nishi Park, a place for citizens to relax, from children to adults!
