img

Fukuraisuzume Azukiyado is a Japanese sweets shop that opened in Yamagata City Mamigasaki in May 2020.

The shop has been attracting attention since before its opening, with its beautiful fresh sweets posted on social media.

It has become a popular store with customers coming from outside the prefecture in search of Japanese sweets that have been shaped by the owner, Mr. Tsuchiya.

A new store just opened in Yonezawa City on April 16, 2022.

This time, we will introduce the charm of the Japanese sweets shop “Fukurai Zaku Azuki Yado”, which is currently attracting attention.

1. Okashitsukasa Fukurai Sparrow Azuki Inn

・Azuki beans and sparrows

“When there was no food after the war, it was a luxurious time eating steamed adzuki beans with the sparrow that I had because I couldn’t fly.”

“Azuki gives me a happy time.”

Daifukuya “Fukuraijaku Azuki Inn” started from the old story of such a grandma, using delicious azuki beans.

Its symbol is the Fukurasuzume, which is also in the shop name.
It is considered a lucky charm that symbolizes abundance and prosperity.

The plump appearance is like the signature product “Daifuku”.

The flagship product “Fresh Cream Daifuku”

・Japanese style interior

When you open the sliding door and go through the noren curtain, you will find a frame that allows you to take off your shoes before entering the store.

In the showcase on the right hand side, there are samples of the signature products “Yamagata Jun Fresh Cream Daifuku” and “Warabi Mochi”.

The first floor of the store is a three-room tatami room that extends to the back, creating a wonderful space with a Japanese taste.

In fact, Fukurai Jaku Azuki Yado is still using the building that was originally a kimono shop, and the floor plan and furnishings are reminiscent of that time.

2. Recommended Japanese sweets

Fukuraijaku Azuki Yado offers a wide variety of Japanese sweets, but this time we would like to introduce three particularly recommended items: Yamagata Junsei Cream Daifuku, Warabi Mochi, and Gokujo Kuri Steamed Yokan.

・Exquisite “Cream Daifuku” with fluffy texture

First, Fukuraijaku Azuki Yado’s highly recommended product, “Yamagata Junsei Cream Daifuku”.

The perfect combination of sweet bean paste wrapped in soft gyuhi and the carefully selected blended cream is outstanding.

And when you look at the showcase, you will be surprised at the variety.

You can choose from a total of 12 types, including 8 standard items and 4 seasonal items.

Standard products are products that can be purchased throughout the year.
Ogura milk, chocolate, Uji Macha green tea, Uji roasted tea, soybean flour caramel, lemon rare cheese, Yamagata cherry, Yamagata zunda.

The lemon rare cheese, which is so popular that it sells out quickly, has a refreshing bean paste with lemon pulp and fresh cream that spreads in your mouth, and it is a delicious taste that you have never eaten before.

In addition, the classic Japanese sweets Ogura milk and Uji Macha green tea are so exquisite that you can eat many of them.

Seasonal products are four times a year, four types that change in spring, summer, autumn and winter.
In the spring of 2022, it was Sakura, Sakura Strawberry, Yomogi Dorayaki, and Uguisu Rare Cheese.

The seasonal products change every year, so you can enjoy different flavors each time.

Please enjoy it together with our standard products.

・Exquisite luxury “Chestnut steamed yokan”

Next, we would like to introduce the “Gokujo Kuri-mushi Yokan,” which uses carefully selected top-quality chestnuts.

This premium chestnut steamed yokan, which boasts popularity as a famous confectionery of Azuki Inn, is a very luxurious dish that contains large chestnuts no matter where you cut it.

The bean paste is made with the highest quality bracken starch and has a chewy texture that maximizes the texture and deliciousness of the chestnuts.
You won’t get tired of eating it, and you’ll end up eating it all at once.

The elegant sweetness and chestnut flavor spreads in your mouth, and it seems to be appreciated as a gift.

・ Purupuru melting “warabi mochi rice cake?”

And warabimochi, which has a melt-in-the-mouth texture and pleasant elasticity, attracts people.

A generous amount of soybean flour is sprinkled on a large warabimochi.

It’s soft yet chewy, and even though it’s plump, it melts in your mouth before you know it.

In addition to the standard soybean flour, there is also “Macha green tea warabimochi”, and the astringency of Macha green tea and warabimochi are excellent.

It may be nice to eat it with brown sugar syrup if you like.

3. The beautiful world of jo-namagashi

・The art of Japanese sweets

When talking about Fukurai Suzume Azuki Inn, there is another sweet that cannot be left out.

— That’s the nerikiri of fresh sweets.

Jonamagashi, which expresses the seasons with sweets and is a manifestation of the beautiful heart of the Japanese people who entertain with tea, has long been popular at celebrations, hospitality occasions, and banquets. You have given me a moment of bliss.

Here at Fukurai Zaku Azuki Yado, we also offer beautiful fresh sweets that match seasonal events and events, and it has become a hot topic on social media since the store opened.

A limited number of fresh sweets are sold every day, but they sell out quickly, so if you want to buy them, be sure to make a reservation.

In addition to traditional themes that express the changing seasons and the nature of nature, sweets are also created for events such as New Year’s Day, Valentine’s Day, the Peach Festival, White Day, Boys’ Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Christmas. Their delicate beauty and cuteness make it a waste to eat them.

・Beautiful sweets made by craftsmen

This time, I was given a special opportunity to see how the renikiri “Sakura” is made in the workshop.

Stretch the koshian paste with your palm and wrap it around the koshian paste. Use the triangular stick and the pads of your fingers to form petals, and add a yellow shibe in the center.

In the blink of an eye, the renikiri and koshian paste were transformed into a beautiful single cherry blossom by the elegant and smooth handling.

Sakura is made with care and attention to detail.

The finished product looks like a work of art, and I couldn’t help but exclaim, “Wow!”

4. Just like a museum of Japanese sweets

The charm of Fukurai Zaku Azuki Inn is not only the deliciousness of the sweets, but also the interior of the shop, which is filled with elements of “Wa” where you can feel Japan.

As you walk around the store, you will feel as if you are in a Japanese sweets museum.

In the tatami room in the back and on the second floor, there are many fresh sweets on display, and you can freely visit them.

All of the jo-namagashi made for each season and theme are so beautiful that you will forget they are sweets.

In addition, I would like you to pay attention to the fittings and decorations that create a fantastic space.

Fusuma (sliding doors) and shoji screens create an even more wonderful space under the soft lighting —

A fox mask that creates a mysterious atmosphere —

Japanese umbrellas scattered here and there —

The owner, Mr. Tsuchiya, who collected most of these items himself, has a great sense of style.

It is a space that I would like not only Japanese but also tourists from overseas and foreigners living in Japan to visit.

5. Mr. Tadahiro Tsuchiya, owner of Japanese sweets craftsman

The owner, Mr. Tsuchiya, expresses beautiful scenery and cute animals with sweets.

In addition to the actual store, Mr. Tsuchiya’s Instagram is littered with wonderful Japanese sweets that will make anyone who sees them happy.

Mr. Tsuchiya studied design when he was a student and aimed to become a picture book author.

When I hear about his career, I am convinced that the color expression and design sense come from here.

Originally, he liked Japanese sweets, but he was fascinated by the fresh confectionery that the craftsmen delicately create one by one, and jumped into the world of Japanese sweets craftsmen.

Mr. Tsuchiya has been working hard to learn the techniques, hoping that many people will know about the appeal of Japanese sweets. It seems that you have faced the problem of

At that time, I came up with the idea of becoming an expressive person and posting on SNS.

Many young people were captivated by the performance of making renikiri in kimono and wearing a fox mask.

He learned Japanese dance and expressed the process of making renikiri as if it were a series of movements in a dance.

When I met him in person, I was impressed by his gentle expression and gentle tone of voice, and the Japanese sweets he created with his hands seemed to show his personality.

Mr. Tsuchiya proves that Japanese sweets have many possibilities.

I felt that he was an entertainer who made people happy and made them smile.

In the future, I would like to go shopping for souvenirs for loved ones, bring my family and friends, and go to Fukura Suzume Azuki Inn!

6. Message

Finally, we received a message from the owner, Tadahiro Tsuchiya, to everyone viewing VISIT YAMAGATA.

“We are an inexperienced sweets shop that just opened, but we want to become a sweets shop that represents Yamagata.

The taste of red bean paste and traditional Japanese sweets will express the four seasons, so please come and visit us.

You can also enjoy looking at the exhibition booth, so please take a look. 』
