The Yamagata Wine Cave opened in April 2023 as a shop where you can buy and drink wines from wineries participating in the Yamagata Winebal annual event.

The wine produced in Kaminoyama City, which is said to have an ideal environment for growing high-quality wine grapes, is highly regarded nationwide and has won numerous awards at international wine competitions.

The Yamagata Wine Cave serves as a place to store and protect Kaminoyama’s wine culture, and also serves as the permanent cellar for the Yamagata Winebal event, which has been held since 2014, spreading the appeal of wine from Yamagata and Kaminoyama throughout the country.

Located in front of Kaminoyama Onsen Station, feel free to drop in before or after checking in, while waiting for the shinkansen bullet train or other local trains, or as a break from walking around town.
