[Summary] Yamagata Hinamatsuri! Hina Dolls Road 2022
Hina dolls came to Yamagata from Kyoto and Edo through the safflower trade. As such, former merchant families often have large collections of beautifully conserved dolls.
Every year, in the area around the Mogami river, hina doll exhibitions and events related to the Hinamatsuri (doll festival) are held for the public to enjoy.
One of the highlights is the evolution in the looks of the dolls, such as the Genroku dolls dressed in gorgeous costumes and the large Kyoho-bina dolls.
Come take a look at these historic hina dolls all around Yamagata.
