Dokkonuma Pond

  • img

Dokkonuma is a pond in the Chuo Kogen area of Zao Onsen great for autumn leaves, hiking and snowshoes trekking.

You can transfer to the Chuo Daiichi Lift from the Zao Chuo Ropeway, so it is safe for people who are not confident in their physical fitness.

Those who want to enjoy trekking can also walk from the Torikabuto Station.
From the Torikabuto Observatory, you can see a panoramic view of the Zao Onsen town below and Mt. Chokai, Mt. Gassan and the Asahi mountain range in the distance.

The Dokkonuma pond is around 350m in circumference and is the source of the water in Yamagata City.
The beautiful emerald green is really a refreshing sight.
