A long time ago, the Uya Kannon of Dewa Province was located at the checkpoint of Uya Kannon together with Muya Kannon of Mutsu Province.

It is a miraculous bodhisattva that protects travelers crossing the Sasaya Pass.

Now that the Sasaya Tunnel has opened and the traffic of cars has increased, the Uya Kannon statue was build on this land for visitors to pray for traffic safety.
