Located in Kanayama Town, Yamagata Prefecture, the Kurashikan serves as the hub of cultural activities for the town.

Originally used as a rice and miso storehouse, it was acquired by the town and renovated, creating a two-building structure consisting of a front storehouse and a back storehouse.

Its appearance, which blends in with the town’s scenery, has been selected as a “Handmade Hometown (Furusato Award)” by the Ministry of Construction, and various events such as mini concerts, tea parties, and dance performances are regularly held inside.

It is usually open to the public free of charge and can also be used as a rest area.
