Zao Onsen is said to have been discovered by Kibi Tagayu, who served during the eastern expedition of Japan Takeru.
During the Edo period, it was bustling as a western trailhead to Zao Gongen, and during the Taisho era, it is said that it began to build a foothold as a tourist destination.
In the Showa era, a ski resort opened, and in 1994, the first day trip bathing facility for tourists was opened.
This is the ZAO Center Plaza Yu-Yu, which we will introduce as our second feature article on the Zao Onsen day-trip hot spring facilities.
As its name implies, the ZAO Center Plaza is a facility located in the central area of Zao Onsen.
It is located on the main street of Zao Onsen (Juhyo-dori Street), and its symbol is a clock that reminds you of a school building.
This is a base for sightseeing in Zao Onsen that includes day-trip baths, restaurants, accommodation facilities, shops, etc.
The facilities can also be used for camps and seminars, making it ideal for student and company training.

Day trip bath

Shoe shelves & coin lockers

After passing through the curtain, you will find the shoe shelves on your right and the locker on your left.
There are no lockers with locks in the Dressing space, so keep your valuables here.
Dressing room

Normally, undressing baskets are lined up in an orderly manner, but currently the number is halved to prevent COVID-19 infectious diseases.
Bath area

shower

There are 8 showers in total, but for the time being, every other chair is installed so that you can use it with a space.

Indoor bath

“Yu-yu” at “ZAO Center Plaza” has 100% indoor bath.
Yunohana (Yunohana) floats in the bathtub, and you can see its richness at a glance.
If you immerse yourself in your shoulders, your tiredness will disappear at once.
As you know, Zao Onsen is a hot spring with strong acidity.
Acidic hot springs are said to have a detoxifying effect, and are said to have the effect of excreting toxins in the body and detoxifying and sterilizing them.
Open-air bath

This is the Open-air bath.
Surrounded by greenery, it has a very airy atmosphere.
This time, I visited in early summer, but I recommend taking a bath while watching the autumn leaves and the Yukimi bath.
Washbasins / restroom

We are now keeping a distance between the Washbasins and the rest space so that they are not in close contact with each other.
Restrooms are also installed in this Dressing room.
Women's bath ~ Detox & sulfate spring that can be expected to have a beautiful skin effect ~

Indoor bath

Of course, the indoor bath of Women’s bath is 100% source.
Zao Onsen’s hot spring is a sulfate spring with a lot of sulfate ions that strengthens the skin-beautifying sulfur and elastic fibers of the skin to prevent wrinkles, even among the strongly acidic hot springs.
Therefore, you can expect a beautiful skin effect!
Open-air bath

Entering the open-air bath while watching the hydrangea in the summer and the snowy landscape in the winter makes you feel like you are in an extraordinary space at once.
This open-air bath is elegant during the day when you can feel the scenery and nature, but it is even more quaint at night when you are surrounded by a fantastic atmosphere.
