1. What is Takahashi Fruit Land?

Takahashi Fruit Land is a tourist orchard located in Kaminoyama City, Yamagata Prefecture, which was founded in 1983.

We place particular emphasis on “soil creation,” and produce our produce using 100% organic fertilizer without the use of chemical fertilizers.

In addition to a shop selling the prefecture’s best seasonal fruits, there is also a directly managed café that uses carefully selected fruits, and you can enjoy fruit picking, including cherries and La France pears.

This is a recommended spot where you can be sure to enjoy all of Yamagata’s deliciousness.

2. What is Shine Muscat?

Shine Muscat is large, seedless, and can be enjoyed with the skin on. It is described on the official website of the Delicious Yamagata Promotion Organization as follows:

“Adult Variety Shine Muscat

The skin is yellow-green and has a rich muscat aroma. It is sweet at around 20 degrees and has little acidity.

They are seedless and have a thin skin that can be eaten whole, making them easy for small children and the elderly to eat and enjoy easily, which is another big attraction.

Not only is it delicious, but the flesh is firm and keeps well, and the beautiful color of the skin and the luxurious volume make it an ideal gift or thank-you gift for someone special.”

3. Freshly picked! Enjoy fresh Shine Muscat

① Reception

Reception is at the shop (the building with the blue exterior).

When you tell the name under which you made your reservation at the shop counter, the receptionist will fill out your admission ticket.

Please note that Shine Muscat hunting lasts for 30 minutes.

There are lots of fresh fruits lined up inside the shop, it’s a really nice space!

We will introduce this later as well.

② Let's go to the land of dreams!!!

Once you’ve checked in, it’s time to head out!

The Shine Muscat fields are just a few minutes walk away.

Even this travel time is exciting.

We were greeted by a lot of Shine Muscats.

This scene made my kids scream like they were screaming lol

I don’t usually eat Shine Muscat.

Since I had told them the day before, “I’m going Shine Muscat hunting tomorrow!”, my joy seemed to have reached its limit.

“The peak season is from mid-September to October, and it’s especially sweet in October.”

This was the introduction given by Mr. Takahashi, CEO of Takahashi Fruit Land Co., Ltd.

I also learned that “green (unripe) ones have a stronger fragrance, while yellow (overripe) ones are sweeter.”

This means that you can enjoy Shine Muscat to the fullest no matter when you come!

If you want to enjoy the aroma of Muscat, we recommend visiting early in the season.

I quickly got one.

You can feel its weight the moment you hold it!

You can see the overflowing flesh and juice waiting for the moment to burst out.

I’ll try picking some right away!

Harvesting Shine Muscat is very easy.

“If you hold the grapes firmly and cut the tops, you’ll be fine,” he said.

Beautiful like a green jewel.

The juice is so strong that I can’t speak.

The kids were trying to say “It’s delicious!” but were making “Oi zuzozo” sounds to keep the juice from spilling out of their mouths lol

This is already plenty sweet though…!!

The photo was taken in early September, so they are a little prematurely ripe, but if they are not sweet enough then what will happen when they reach their peak in October?

I really want everyone watching this to experience it for themselves!

This freshness can only be enjoyed when the fruit is freshly picked.

It really was just a dreamland.

When eating grapes with children, can it be a hassle to remove the skin and seeds?

Since we were able to eat the Shine Muscat as it was, this fruit picking trip was much less of a burden on the parents.

I thought “30 minutes is probably quite short,” but after the time was up I found myself feeling surprisingly full.

3. Tips for enjoying Shine Muscat picking

❶ Consult with your stomach

You cannot take home the grapes you harvest, so please only pick as many as you will eat on the premises.

If you’re getting full, we recommend choosing a smaller portion or sharing it with your family.

❷ Comfortable clothing

As with any fruit picking trip, we recommend wearing clothes that are easy to move around in and that you don’t mind getting dirty.

You may want to avoid wearing heels or bring a change of shoes with you.

❸ Children

If you have small children, it’s a good idea to bring wet wipes and a change of clothes.

4. After fruit picking...

Fruit picking isn’t the only way to enjoy Takahashi Fruit Land!

There is also a café and a direct sales store on the premises, so be sure to check them out.

5. Access to Takahashi Fruit Land and Parking Lot

Takahashi Fruit Land is located in a vast orchard.
The scenery around your destination will be covered with orchards, so you may worry whether you are on the right path.

There are signs at key points to guide you, so you can get to your destination without getting lost.

In addition to the parking lot in front of the store, there is also a second parking lot, so you can use it with peace of mind.
