Tamamushi Marsh

Built during the Muromachi period, this is the oldest reservoir in Yamagata Prefecture.

In 2010, it was selected as one of the “100 Best Reservoirs in Japan” by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

On the cape is Tamamushi Daimyojin Shrine, which enshrines Princess Tamamushi, about whom a tragic legend has been passed down.

There are promenades along the surrounding shoreline, allowing you to enjoy a stroll along the waterside.
