Oyama Nature Park is a park located in the area surrounding the summit of Mt. Oyama (317m above sea level), southwest of JR Aterazawa Station, and was developed to take advantage of the Satoyama environment. From the park’s plaza and observation tower, you can enjoy outstanding views of the Asahi mountain range, Mt. Gassan, and the Ou Mountains.

The park is covered with a Satoyama forest dominated by oak trees, and from early May onwards, the oaks sprout silvery buds during the new green season, and around the end of May, clusters of Himesaiyari spread across the forest floor.

There are also six cottages and a campsite surrounded by oak forest where you can relax and unwind.

~ Explanation of the site ~
① Cottages
There are six cottages labelled from A to F, with a capacity of 4 to 11 people depending on the building.
A bathroom and toilet are included, but are self-cooked using the facilities provided (cooking utensils included).
Visitors will need to bring ingredients and seasonings.

② Observation Deck
There is an observation deck inside the administration building, where you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Asahi mountain range, Mt. Gassan, Hayama, Zao, and more.

③ Grass Park
A popular rest area with playground equipment that anyone can enjoy.

④ Trail
There is a roughly 8-kilometer trail with natural trees and flowers that has been left untouched, making it a great place for hiking.

⑤ Lily of the Valley
A rare flower of the lily family that can only be found in the southern Tohoku region of Miyagi, Yamagata, and Fukushima prefectures, and in parts of Niigata prefecture.
The “Oyama Nature Park Lily Festival” is held every year from late May to early June.
