The center opened in 2019 as a gateway to mountain tourism at the popular Kodera trailhead, which serves as the starting point for climbs to the main peak of the Asahi mountain range, one of Japan’s 100 most famous mountains and representative of the Tohoku region, as well as other mountains.

It also has lodging facilities and serves as a base for mountain climbing. The fresh greenery in spring and the virgin beech forest in summer are pleasant, and the vibrant autumn leaves are sure to soothe both body and mind.
