The Oe Town Kouryu Station is an information facility aimed at disseminating knowledge about the town’s history, culture, tourism, and more.

It is integrated with Aterazawa Station, and while the building has a modern appearance, it was built with the aim of blending in with the local climate and scenery, using stone walls that are associated with the town’s history and locally produced Nishiyama cedar throughout.

The station has been praised as a new urban space rooted in the history, climate, and scenery of the region, and in 2003 it won the Yamagata Economic Association Grand Prize at the 1st Yamagata Landscape Awards for Connecting to the Next Generation, sponsored by the Yamagata Economic Association, as well as the Recommended Award in the Works Category of the 48th Railway Architecture Association Awards for 2003, sponsored by the Railway Architecture Association.

The facility includes an information corner, gallery, exhibition hall, etc.
